Questions:
How much memory should a computer that is running Windows XP have? Microsoft states that Windows XP requires at least 256 MB of RAM, however simply running antivirus software on a computer with only 256 MB of RAM will grind a computer to a halt. You might be able to get by with 512 MB of RAM, but as a general rule you should have at least 1 GB of RAM.
If your computer has just 256 MB of RAM should you purchase more RAM? I say don't even bother. That old computer itself is probably worth less than the cost of the RAM upgrade.
How much memory should a computer that is running Windows Vista or 7 have? As a general rule you should have at least 2 GB of RAM.
