Do you have critical data on your computer that is not backed up to a secondary media?

Music MP3's? Word documents? Tax documents? Photos? Emails? Browser bookmarks? Product keys?

How sure are you that your data is safe? Sometimes customers improperly back up or improperly recover their data, and this essentially results in data loss. This is one more reason why it is important to create at least 2 backups to different mediums.

Step ONE of any repair is to verify that you have backed up any critical personal data to a secondary drive (preferably TWO safety backups). You are encouraged to visit this page for help on backing up your data prior to bringing your product in.

PCR takes various precautions including using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to protect against power failure during servicing, and by error checking backup drives. If requested PCR can back up your data for an applicable fee.

SERVICE ORDER AGREEMENT

You, the customer, agree that you must back up your data, software, information and/or files. You agree that whether or not you request PCR to back up any data, software, information or other files stored on your product, in no event shall PCR and/or its repair tech be liable under any circumstances for any loss, alteration or corruption of any data, software, information, files, or loss of any other media from your product.

All computer repair businesses have a similar clause on their service order forms that the customer must sign off on before work is performed. No matter how skilled and careful a tech may be, there can be unavoidable events. A hard drive could die in the middle of servicing, existing viruses can damage a system, a firmware module or logical volume manager can fail or become corrupted, etc.
